Fishbone Tattoos and Piercings is a local business who believes in taking care of others in their own community. When Phil Smith and Rae Cross heard about my struggle with breast cancer, the number of surgeries I had been through, and the fact that I wasn't going to be able to pay a plastic surgeon to finish my reconstruction. They took action. The final phase and probably one of the most delicate of any breast cancer reconstruction is the tattooing of the areola. This is so important to women in the reconstruction process, because most insurance companies think this is cosmetic and will not pay. Therefore they either have to go along in life disfigured from their surgery, or find a very large some of money to have this done.
In my case I was lucky. Probably by an act of God, I called their shop and as fate would have it, Rae answered the phone. My first thought, was "thank God, it's a woman," because I really didn't want to tell my whole breast cancer saga to a man. When I explained my dilemma to Rae, she immediately without hesitation said. "I think we can help you."
Now I have to say that I had a very stereotypical view of tattoo parlors. I had never really thought of them as "art" studios where artists perfect their craft. But after visiting the shop and seeing examples of Phil's artwork, I had an epiphany. "I don't need a doctor. I need an artist"
Because of Phil and Rae's kindness and generosity. I was made to feel like my cancer had not left me disfigured, and now I have a more realistic view of what "body art" is all about.
If you would like to call or visit Fishbone Tattoos and Piercings you would find the shop to be clean, professional, and most of all you would be made to feel comfortable and accepted for who you are no matter what your request. They are located at 9879 U.S. Hwy 1 in Sebastian. You can also reach them by phone at 388-8287. You can even stop in and just say, "Hi". They are your neighbors in this community, and they show it. -Jill Vogel, C.B.L.C. Life Coach

Phil and I just wanted to thank Jill for the kind words contained herein. We were pleased to be able to help Jill with her problem and as I told her, the Lord works in mysterious ways through fate to bring people together. We not only got the pleasure of helping Jill, but also gained a friend in the process. Thanks again, Jill and we look forward to seeing you soon. Rae Cross and Phil Smith -- Fishbone Tattoos
