SOS Cookies
The Roseland Women's Club and Daughters of the American Revolution are combining efforts to send cookies to soldiers overseas. Rita Richter of Sebastian came up with an idea to send homemade cookies to her grandson in Iraq and to send enough for his whole unit (over 100 soldiers). It made such a big hit she wanted to send cookies to other servicemen and women to share among their units. This was a huge project, so she recruited The Roseland Women's club and DAR. This project will be on going monthly. In February the project called "Send Our Soldiers Cookies" sent 47 pounds of cookies to Iraq. This was enough to send to 4 different soldiers to share among their units. She has also organized another group in Miami. If you know of a soldier overseas who would like to receive homemade cookies to distribute in his/her unit, you may send their name, rank, and address to soscookies@bellsouth.net.
