The Exchange Club of Sebastian is gearing up for it's major fund raiser of the year, the 16
th Annual Blue Water Open offshore fishing tournament to be held in Sebastian. This tournament is the lifeblood of the club, as all proceeds go to their support of charitable organizations like the Boys and Girls Club, Exchange Club CASTLE, and Youth Guidance. The Exchange Club's mission, both at the local and national levels, is the prevention of child abuse. In the past fifteen years, this tournament has raised more than $186,000 in support of child abuse prevention and youth-oriented activities.
The Sebastian Exchange Club is actively looking for sponsors to partner with them to "make a difference in the life of a child". Sponsorships range from $250 to $10,000. Angler Sponsors ($300) and above receive a free entry into the tournament. In addition, all sponsors can place promotional materials in the Captain's Buckets, and sponsorships are 100% tax deductible! Some of our wonderful sponsors for the 2009 tournament to-date include: Winn-Dixie, Florida Hiway and Marine Insurance, CARP Coastal Marine, Sebastian River Medical Center, Sebastian Inlet Marina, SunTrust Bank Inc., Seacoast National Bank, Busy Bee Lawn and Garden Center, and Squid Lips Overwater Grill.
This year's tournament will be held on June 5
th and 6
th at Squid Lips Overwater Grill & Fins Marina, on Indian River Drive in Sebastian. The festivities begin on Friday, the 5
th with the Captain's Meeting at 6:00 pm. Lines in the water no earlier than 6:00 am on Saturday morning, but you must have registered the night before to participate. Weigh-in cutoff is 5:00 pm sharp.
Entry fee is $200 per boat. Categories include Dolphin, Kingfish, Wahoo, and Snapper/Grouper. There is a $12,000 GUARANTEED CASH PAYOUT in 27 places on a main board and a bonus board.
