South Brevard Sharing Center KWC Fundraiser
In 1997 a group of friends in Melbourne found out about a local giving tree that had several names left on it very close to Christmas. In one week they raised enough money to purchase gifts and clothing for 12 children. In 1998, they raised over $5000 and helped 64 children. The project gained momentum and continued to grow with the help of businesses and volunteers organizing a fundraiser and has raised over $100,000. The original organizers have personally shopped for over 1200 children, whose family names are provided by
South Brevard Sharing Center. They also organize a gift wrapping party and provide gifts for Senior Citizens in a local nursing home. . The children's gifts are delivered on Christmas morning.
The annual fundraiser is scheduled in October and
Kids Without Christmas is asking the community for corporate donations, gift certificates or any items that can be used in a raffle or auction to raise money. Donations can be sent to Simon Residence-Kids Without Christmas-1670 Stewart Place-Melbourne, FL 32935.
