A loggerhead friend of mine recently told me of a place to have lunch in Sebastian called JP Matty's Grill & Deli Restaurant. He said he worked with another loggerhead that eats there all the time and loves it.
So, on a beautiful Indian River County Friday, we headed over to JP Matty's Grill & Deli Restaurant.
Looking through the menu, I saw a variety of sandwiches that caught my eye: hot corned beef, pastrami, Genoa salami, BLT and even grilled cheese with bacon and tomato. These sandwiches ranged in price from $3.95 to $6.95 and included a choice of French fries, cole slaw or potato salad.
I chose the BLT on toasted rye bread for $4.95.
My friend was interested in their selection of lunch combos. He said he had a difficult time choosing between the Deli Sloppy (consisting of corned beef, turkey and roast beef with imported Swiss cheese, cole slaw and Russian dressing) and Vinnie's Super Italiano with ham, provolone, Genoa salami, pepperoni, turkey, Italian seasoning, lettuce, tomato and Italian dressing. Both cost $7.50. In the end, he chose the Deli Sloppy.
It was a good thing he was hungry! When our lunch arrived, we couldn't believe the portion size each of us ended up taking some home for later.
Other menu items include burgers ranging in price from $5.95 to $7.95. Other grill specialties include Philly style steak with peppers, onions and cheese, and a Classic Rueben with turkey, bacon, imported Swiss, lettuce, tomato and Russian dressing on toast. The grill specialties are priced at $5.75 to $7.75.
If you are looking for more, JP Mattys Grill & Deli Restaurant also offers a JP Special, which consists of charbroiled steak, grilled onions and peppers on a toasted Italian roll. The Matty's Special is billed on their menu as outrageous: two grilled all-beef hot dogs, sautéed peppers, onions, potatoes, stuffed in an Italian roll.
