"The Whole Wide World @ My Public Library" is the theme for the Florida Library Youth Program for 2008, and a full schedule of children's programming has been planned at the North Indian River County Library. Registration begins Monday, May 5, in person at the Children's service desk, by telephone at (772) 589-1355 or by email:
childrens@sebastianlibrary.com. The programs, which are free of charge, run from June 13th through August 8
th. Brochures will soon be available in the Library describing each program and event.
Story Time for preschoolers ages three to five will meet on Mondays from 10:15 - 11:15 a.m. Toddler Time will meet on Tuesdays, for ages one to three, from 10:15 - 11:00 a.m. Baby Time, for ages from birth to two years old, will meet from 11:30 a.m. - 12:00 p.m., on Tuesdays. Children, ages five to eleven can join Twilight Tales on Tuesday evenings from 6:15 - 7:30 p.m. or become Wednesday or Thursday Day Trippers from 10:15a.m. to 12 noon. Children in all of these programs will enjoy stories, crafts, music and refreshments.
Special Event Fridays will begin on June 13th, 10:30 - 11:30 a.m., with a demonstration by the Vero Beach Karate Association. Other presenters this summer will be native Americans James Redblood Atkins & Cody Sawgrass, Fred Mazza, the "Fossil Guy," Windell Campbell. There will also be programs highlighting the Australian, Chinese, Celtic and Colombian cultures . Free tickets for all Special Event Fridays are available two weeks prior to each performance and are required for admission to Special Event Fridays All of these programs are sponsored by the Friends of the North Indian River County Library.
