Halo 3 thrills Masses at Midnight
Contributed by: "Capt Joel" Kilmer - Big Dog Comics on 9/25/2007

If you were outside the GameStop store at 10927 South US 1 in Port Saint Lucie at 11:55PM Monday September 24 you might have thought there was a new Harry Potter book, or a free concert, by the line of people that stretched out in front of the store. It wasn't either of those but the long awaited release of the action packed Halo 3.

From the stats I have been told it was the largest media release ever. Bigger than any movie or DVD in past years, and from the amount of hyped and waiting customers I wouldn't doubt it. But store manager Tim [Rhyno] Miller had his troops/salespeople ready for the assault at the front door. At Midnight Michael let the first wave of customers thru the door 10 at a time and only after showing their pre-order numbers. The first customer held his game up proudly as he rushed from the store.

According to the news about 1.3 million games had been pre-sold and from the looks of things sales will be unequalled over the next week or so. Alisha and Nina were helping out at a fevered pace behind the register to keep things moving. Big Dog Comic was proud to be invited as part of the history making evening and had Halo the comic book mini series for sale. Even though the comic sold out a week ago and is in second printing it was available for the true die hard fans in 1st print.

GameStop and Big Dog comics also have Halo Clixs for sale for people who like to play miniatures and table top games. GameStop had brisk sales of other Halo merchandise from shirts to key chains through out the day.

One of the evening/mornings high lights was to put on a custom made Halo Helmet that was on lone from local artist Rick Pelletier. Once you put the helmet on it brought out the kid and Wildman in the wearer. People were bouncing of the wall and "Ker Pow" "Ker Powing" everywhere. The Halo Helmet as well as Wolverine claws, Captain America's Shield and Iron man's Helmet, and other custom designed pieces are currently on display for all to enjoy at Big Dog Comics.

And of course GameStop and its staff and friends would like to thank Vito of Zero's Subs located just 2 doors over who graciously supplied sandwich's and wraps for all to enjoy. And thanks to Tim and the employees of GameStop for being there for the anxious fans.

So stop by GameStop on 10927 South US 1 and pick up your halo 3 game while supplies last and tell em' Capt Joel sent you.
