Alice L. Walters Wallace - there she is a Florida-raised, privileged, educated and lovely young woman in 1940. However, over the next 67 years she endured numerous personal illnesses, family deaths and four different husbands within a dozen years. She questioned herself, why such dreadful and terrible things continually seemed to happen to her and those around her. Yet, she still managed to realize many fantastic achievements during those same years.
Over the decades everyone turned to her as the tower of strength, the one to care for the ill and then to handle the funeral arrangements. Her friends and family alike agreed Alice appeared to be the invincible woman, the unflinching rock or harbor, where a person felt secure. Many times she wondered herself, how she managed everything but each time she reached deep down into her inner self and gathered the personal strength she needed. Surrender to fate was not how she approached life.
Each occurrence, whether taking on career challenges to dealing with personal heartache, has made her that much stronger. Alice has always felt there wasn't anything she couldn't surmount. If there was a skill she lacked, she learned how to do it. She kept an optimistic attitude and approach within her spirit.
Her own life is an inspiration to countless people and she has taught by example. The phrases, "Why me?" or "I can not do this!" have never been a part of her vocabulary. Alice is a "can do" person, one with eternal passion, drive and endurance.
The newly released paperback book, "The Invincible Alice", with 161 pages and many photos, covers the varied events of her life.
It was compiled and written by her goddaughter, family cousin and namesake -- Alice L. Luckhardt of Stuart.
It is available through I-Proclaim Publishers of Pittsburgh, PA at the following web site:
