Whether you are just counting the days until the kids are back in school and the temperature drops - late October at the earliest is my guess - or you are in relax-it's summer-mode, I hope you are enjoying what the summer has to offer. For my part, I'm enjoying the low pressure attitude and looking forward to visiting Key West in a couple of weeks. But I have to admit, I'll be ready for season and all the parties, events and friends back in town.

Craig and Karen Kingston, owners of The Taste Restaurant in Hobe Sound, decided to have a party with artist Dan Mackin and his artists friends recently. Apparently it was Dan's idea to get together some artists he knows and give them a chance to make drawings on perfectly boring white shirts for $20 to benefit HPS. Over 100 people stood in line for Julia Kelly, Kim Rody, Kevin Hutchinson, Mimi McCallum, Karen Massengill, Michael Hoffman and Kristof to sketch on their shirts.

The Silvester Foundation Mutt March to benefit the Humane Society of the Treasure Coast will be held on Saturday, October 18 in Halpatiokee Park, near I-95 in Stuart. This is a great event for anyone who loves dogs and animals. Since it is just before Halloween, they have a canine and human costume contest and you would be amazed what dogs can get their humans to wear - and vice versa. You can form a pack and fundraise or just show up and have fun. Call Jackie Ranaldo at 772-600-3211 to find out how you can be a hero in your dog's eyes.

Have you heard about the new service Slydial that let's you go right to someone's voicemail before they even hear one little ring-ring? If you ask me, that's taking the cowards way out but try it and let me know how it worked for you. You can call 267-SLY-DIAL and you will be prompted to enter another person's cellphone number.
