Media Forum to be held on June 15

To Host Professional Development Seminar

The Treasure Coast Chapter of the Florida Public Relations Association (FPRA) will hold their 2007 Treasure Coast Media Forum on Friday, June 15 from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Kight Center for Emerging Technologies at Indian River Community College on Virginia Avenue in Fort Pierce. The cost to attend is $75 for FPRA members, $100 for non-members, and $35 for students. The registration fee includes breakfast, lunch and a copy of the 2007 Treasure Coast Media Directory.

The annual Media Forum provides professional development and networking opportunities for people in the public relations, marketing, advertising, event planning and news industries.

The day will begin with breakfast and presentation by Rick Caldwell, Director of Cultural Competency for, Towards a More Perfect Union, a nonprofit organization created in 2000 to help our communities better understand and appreciate the racial and ethnic mix of our society.

Two sets of concurrent sessions will provide workshops on managing media relationships, weblogs, fundraising and event planning, PR:101, and tips and techniques from experts in the specialty publications, new media, radio and print industries.

Dr. Honey Rand, APR/PRSA Fellow and president of the Environmental PR Group will be the luncheon keynote speaker and will present "Branding. Image. Corporate Identity. What does it all mean and can I make it work for me?"

FPRA was established in 1938 and is dedicated to developing public relations practitioners, who, through ethical and standardized practices, enhance the public relations profession in Florida. FPRA is comprised of 15 professional and nine student chapters throughout the state, providing professional development, networking, and professional recognition opportunities.
