Two UF students and recent Northwood graduate participate in summer internship program at Regan Communications
Jupiter, Fla. (July 15, 2009) - From a competitive pool of aspiring public relations candidates, Regan Communications Group - one of the nation's largest public relations firms - announced its selection for the company's competitive summer internship program.
Nicole Pick, of Weston, Fla., is a rising junior at University of Florida in Gainesville, where she is pursuing dual bachelor's degrees in Public Relations and History.
Nancy Brown, of Wellington, Fla., is set to graduate from University of Florida in Gainesville this fall with a bachelor's degree in Public Relations from the College of Journalism and Communications.
Gabriela Chacon, of Guatemala City, Guatemala, is a recent graduate from Northwood University in West Palm Beach with a bachelor's degree in Business Administration.
"Regan Communications provides valuable opportunities for interns to learn the in-depth aspects of the public relations industry," said Misti Guertin, APR, vice president of Regan Communications Group. "Our company teaches students the real world skills they need to succeed in the public relations industry. Pick, Brown and Chacon were impressive during the interview process and writing skills assessment and stood out against a large pool of candidates."
Pick said, "I was attracted to Regan Communications because of its promise to provide me with hands-on training during my internship. They were not going to have me answering the phone and fetching coffee."
Pick, Brown and Chacon are assisting Regan Communications Group employees on a variety of accounts, from large corporations to local non-profit organizations. Responsibilities include researching and drafting press releases, learning and utilizing industry technologies, coordinating special events, attending client meetings, participating in staff meetings and assisting with administrative tasks.
Regan Communications is currently accepting applications for its fall internship program, beginning late August.
