Twenty eight local child care teachers recently completed 10 Saturday trainings on using Conscious Discipline techniques in their classrooms. Ginny Luther of Peaceful Parenting, Inc. provided an interactive and fun training series covering topics such as helping children feel safe, connected, empowered, cooperative, and helpful in the classroom setting. Studies show that children who learn Conscious Discipline techniques fare better academically and socially, and overall results in a positive and peaceful school environment (www.consciousdiscipline.com).
"Training participants reported they felt better equipped to connect with the preschoolers in their care, and their classrooms are now more peaceful and cooperative due to applied Conscious Discipline techniques," said Kathy Derringer of Helping People Succeed. "The Children's Services Council of Martin County is to be applauded for their decision to support Conscious Discipline training."
Training graduates are from Dunbar Child Care Center, Gertrude Walden Child Care Center, Indiantown YMCA Child Care Center, Adonais, and Oceanside Academy. This training series was made possible through funding from the Children's Services Council of Martin County, and was coordinated through the Children's Behavioral Support Program of HPS, Helping People Succeed.
