The American Montessori Society (AMS) 2009 Annual Conference will be held in New Orleans, LA, this month and local teachers from the area will be in attendance. Kelley Kimmel, Toddler Directress and Director of Ocean Montessori; Megan Zeller, Teacher, Walden Academy; and Patti Mitchell, Teacher-Director, Walden Academy and Ocean Montessori, will be attending the Conference.

New Orleans was selected by the American Montessori Society as it is a location that continues to experience the effects of the devastation wrought by Hurricane Katrina in 2005. Inspired by the hope, resiliency, and rebuilding that the world has witnessed in this city, AMS is dedicating the conference to the theme of social justice and global peace, both core curriculum concepts of Walden Academy and Ocean Montessori.
