Stuart, FL., March 25, 2009- David Anderson Middle School and Project Northland have invited Chris "Lil Big Man" Hollyfield to deliver his anti-bullying message and encourage children to respect themselves and others at David Anderson Middle School on April 14
th, 2009. Chris has gained notoriety for his appearances and involvement with World Wrestling Entertainment, BTV, MTV, Miami Ink and other national talk shows.
Even though his career is soaring, Chris has decided to take time to work with various school districts across the nation to deliver his important message. "This move was made in direct response to a number of events that have been publicized in the media. I truly believe that taunting and harassment have no place in a child or adults life. This has and continues to be an area that I dedicate myself and resources to helping resolve." Chris stated.
Who better to deliver this message than a person who has learned how to overcome adversity? With a frame of 4 foot by 4 inches, he knows what it's like to be different and has experienced the effects of people trying to tease and bully him. He will share with the students at Anderson Middle during 2 different assemblies, what it is like to be bullied because of his genetic condition, dwarfism. This condition leaves the individual with an average sized torso and head, but shorter arms and legs. Chris maximizes his visual differences to help students recognize and avoid teasing and bullying among peers.
Project Northland staff, whom typically promotes substance abuse prevention activities, felt that sponsoring an anti-bullying assembly at David Anderson Middle school would assist the community in understanding the link between bullying and youth substance abuse. "Youth who are harassed long enough suffer lower self esteem and may be more susceptible to using substances." stated Angela Gomez, Prevention Specialist for Project Northland.
This event is for students and staff at David Anderson Middle School. Media is invited to attend. For more information please contact Prevention Coordinator, Darcy Von Ohlen at 772-260-9343 or
