Contributed by: Brenda Elkin on 6/12/2009

Emily Elkin holds the 100 year old hall pass one last time June 5th!

Seawind Elementary's gifted teacher Mrs. Karen Clark had inherited a hall pass that was made in 1902 for Mrs.Clark as an anniversary present. The original Mrs. Clark taught Home Economics in French Lick, IN ( home to basketball legend Larry Bird). When she retired in the early 1950's the hall pass was passed down to Mrs. Deanna Stackhouse Clark, a music teacher (who retired in 1993). Mrs. Karen Clark was then given the hall pass to use in her classroom, in Palm Beach County and for the past three years at SeaWind Elementary.
Mrs. Karen Clark taught 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade Gifted Math, Science, and Social Studies, at SeaWind.

Emily (a member of the Children of the American Revolution) loves family history and often mentioned the 100 year old hall pass.
Emily will attend Murray Middle School in the fall. Mrs. Karen Clark will teach middle school math in New York , in the fall.
