Classic Comedy comes alive as MCHS takes on Arsenic and Old Lace!
When Arsenic and Old Lace opened at the Fulton Theatre in New York City on January 10, 1941, it was an immediate success with the public as well as the Critics. Later going to film starring Cary Grant it is a story that is familiar to all.
Now Martin County High School Fine Arts Department under the direction of Kristal Eckhardt will present this timeless play just in time for the Halloween Holiday.The plot focuses on two sweet, elderly sisters who are known for their many acts of "charity" in their Brooklyn neighborhood.This includes serving poisoned elderberry wine to sad, lonely old gents seeking lodging in their home.They are assisted in their crimes by their mentally challenged nephew who thinks he's Teddy Roosevelt. The plot gets exciting when their other nephew, a theatre critic, discovers the dead bodies and a third nephew arrives after an escape from a mental institution.
Featured are Amanda Paul as Abby Brewster, Kelsey Moore as Martha Brewster, Christian Martek as Mortimer Brewster, Katrina Colletti as Elaine Brewster, Alex Restifo as Teddy, Kevin Connor as Jonathan Brewster, and Philippe Arroyo as Dr. Einstein.
