Sybil Flavel is a gracious Southern Belle raised in the Tar Heel State of North Carolina. She is always dressed as if she were ready to attend an evening theatre production. One of the co-chairs of the All Saints' Thrift Shop, she is diligent in coordinating efforts at the Shop, as well as immersing herself in work there. A faithful supporter of the Healing Service on Wednesday morning, her cheerful attitude adds to the relaxed environment of Wednesday Noon Tea.
Sybil has been a member of the All Saints' chapter of the Daughters of the King and for many years attended the evening Bible Study. Anyone entering Houg Hall on Sundays or weekdays can be assured of being greeted by a smiling and welcoming Sybil Flavel. She developed this trait of genteel hospitality in her years of foreign diplomacy, both in Washington, D.C. and Vietnam, where her late husband, Jerry, a lay reader at All Saints' Church, served for many years. While in the District of Columbia, she attended St. John's Church, Lafayette Square, across from the White House and known as "The Presidents' Church".
Congratulations, Sybil, on being designated an Angel and thank you.
