People came together this Thanksgiving with First United Methodist Church of Stuart to serve 2300 Thanksgiving dinners to members of our community. Over 300 meals were served at the church on Thursday and approximately 2000 meals were delivered to different groups throughout Martin County. First United Methodist Church of Stuart delivered meals to Men's Turning Point, Senior Citizens of East Stuart, Ridgeway Senior Village and Villa of Assumption in East Stuart. St. Christopher's Catholic Church in Hobe Sound delivered 200 of First United Methodist's prepared meals to home bound seniors in the Banner Lake subdivision. Meals were also delivered to service men and women of the community such as Stuart Fire Station, Policemen, Martin County Sheriff office, and Life Guards who were all on duty this Thanksgiving.
Many thanks are given to all the volunteers and American Legion Post 126 who made this Thanksgiving meal possible. Big Heart Fire Brigade cooked all 65 of the 25 pound turkeys. Another group came to the church to carve all the turkeys. There was another 100 volunteers who helped serve and deliver meals on Thursday. Funding for the meals was provided by members of First United Methodist Church of Stuart.
