Local Episcopalian reads Braille

St. Luke's Episcopalian Invited to Read Braille During the Presiding Bishop's Visit

The Most Reverand Katharine Jefferts Schori, 26th Presiding Bishop of The Episcopal Church, visited the Diocese of Southeast Florida this past April. She was celebrant and preacher at a Mass at Bethesda-by-the-Sea, Palm Beach, and at Trinity Cathedral, Miami.

In this photograph, Joe Abate of Stuart, a parishioner of St. Luke's Episcopal Church in Port Salerno, reads the scriptures in Braille at the Bethesday-by-the-Sea service at of Presiding Bishop Schori, attended by the Rt. Rev. Leo Frade, Bishop of Southeast Florida.

Jefferts Schori is the first woman Primate in the Episcopal Church. Since her 2006 election to a nine year term as Presiding Bishop, she has started visiting different Episcopal dioceses.
