Celebrate Japan's Children's Day with Benihana
Contributed by: Rachel Shapiro on 4/28/2008

In Japan, Kodomo no Hi, or Children's Day is celebrated in May to honor children's happiness and express gratitude toward all mothers. In an effort to bring this cheerful holiday to America, Benihana will honor Children's Day Sunday, May 4 to Wednesday, May 7 at participating locations.

Benihana is starting its own tradition here in the United States by inviting families to embark on a fun-filled culinary adventure to celebrate Kodomo no hi. During this holiday, kids will receive a free kid's drink and edamame along with Samurai helmets made of newspaper called Kabuto, koi streamers, a Polaroid photo of their visit and a pamphlet to educate children about the tradition of Children's Day along with instructions on how to make the Samurai helmet at home.

Benihana is famous for bringing Japanese cuisine to mainstream America, with its theatrical performing chefs who prepare and serve meals before guests at teppanyaki tables. Benihana also offers a sushi menu featuring delicious innovations.
