SIMPLE WISHES THAT CAN CHANGE YOUR WORLD
Contributed by: Susan F. Scherer on 7/13/2008

In a state were we are all getting older the one thing we never like to talk about is death. Recently St Lucie County has made it easier for our community to broach the subject of death and dying with the opening of the new Hospice House facility. This facility not only allows them to coordinate better for the community but also gives another option to those suffering or dealing with situations that they can not handle on an outside basis.

Personally I have been interested in the idea of Hospice for many years. Being what I consider the younger folks, of Florida, only in my early 40s, I know that many of my friends and loved ones are going to 'pass' before me. And to know that there are groups that can help with things as little as a smiling face or a happy voice on the other end of a phone line, to all out 'LET ME TAKE OVER FOR AWHILE' relief.

One thing I found very helpful though was a pamphlet I recently ran across about five wishes. The pamphlet gives a person the opportunity to make decisions prior to getting sick. Things that we as family may not feel comfortable discussing, can be decided ahead of time..

THE PERSON I WANT TO MAKE CARE DECISIONS FOR ME WHEN I CAN'T

THE KIND OF MEDICAL TREATMENT I WANT OR DON'T WANT

HOW COMFORTABLE I WANT TO BE

HOW I WANT PEOPLE TO TREAT ME

WHAT I WANT MY LOVED ONES TO KNOW

this and many helpful resources can be found at http://www.tchospices.org/

Just another way that we can Treasure Life
