Taste of Tropics: Thanks for Community Support

Flag Day, June 14, 2008 found the Martin County Fair Ground Pavilion full to the edges with plants and eager shoppers. The Martin County Master Gardeners held their annual Taste of the Tropics Plant Sale and rare fruit tasting event which provided an opportunity to our community to try unusual, in some cases, previously unheard of fruit and at the same time take home Master Gardener grown plants for a very low cost.

This year we added a fruit tree vender to the sale in response to requests for these plants from our customers. Hopkins Nurseries, from Naples, provided a great variety of trees and plants to the delight of all, including Hopkins.

Funds from these plants sales help the Martin County Master Gardeners to provide scholarships for worthy students from Martin County who are seeking educations in horticulture studies. Check out our website at:
