Fred Burkey, Florida Yards & Neighborhoods Agent for the University of Florida, in conjunction with the Martin County Parks has been currently running their yearly Best Management Practices Program.

One of the many speakers was Dr. Laurie Trenholm, author and supporter of Best Management Practices (BMP) for the professional green industry. Her talk was on turf management. She spoke to the Parks Department for Martin County, City of Stuart, Indian River Community College and Martin County School District on good fertilizer practices.

This program is currently being presented for residential customers of Martin County by Fred Burkey during the course of the year through his library lecture series.

Dr. Trenholm spoke on the commercial aspect of this topic throughout the state promoting this BMP program as part of education for the new state fertilizer rule which went into effect January 1, 2008.
