The 3rd Annual Amateur Photo Contest winners were honored at Tropical Ranch Botanical Gardens on Sunday, September 21. Very large, wonderful cameras of all descriptions were on display along with their owners who were busy taking photographs with them to enter in the 4th Annual Contest to be held in 2009. Our judges, local artists, Kelly Arnold and Hope Everson along with Michael Salzlechner, local professional photographer, had a very difficult decision to make as each of the 51 entries was more spectacular than the last.
When the decision was made final, Joan C. Jones was our 1st Prize winner with an absolutley stunning photo of a blue water lilly; Susan Bielefeld our 2nd Prize winner with an incredible photo of a blue moth on a basil plant; and our Honorable Mention prize went to Elliott Hurwitt for his very soothing photo of a perfect lotus flower bud.
Next month, October 18 & 19 will be a Plant Sale of butterfly plants and other garden shrubs. Our Lecture on Saturday, the 18th at 10:00 am, will feature Jeanelle Gearing, with her displays and photos for many species of butterflies. We will include a raffle as usual for attendees with some lucky person going home with a butterfly starter kit.
To view all of the photographs entered in our contest go to our website:
www.tropicalranchbotanicalgardens.com
and then come out to TRBG and take your photos for next year!
