Functional Training Certification
Contributed by: Bill Hebson on 10/29/2009

Functional training implies that we are training in a manner that prepares us to deal with the dynamic, multi-dimensional environment we live and play in. The environment we have to navigate successfully every day in all our daily lives.
Lets just look at these demands very briefly. Real life is standing, we are never asked to apply force sitting down or laying down. Real life is whole body, there is no such thing as isolation in the real world. That is a body building invention. When we pick up our kids or take the garbage out to the street or hit a golf ball every muscle in the body works simultaneously and synergistically. All together and all at once. We have level changes, rotation, momentum and balance to deal with.
So to effectively train all these issues, in other words to train functionally requires an instructor to be knowledgeable and fluent in a wide variety of training modalities.
Plyometrics, agility, balance, medicine balls, bands, Olympic lifts, explosive power training. And then to be able to integrate these elements into a program that includes the traditional strength training that is tried and true and has value as well. Add to that list the demands of trying to fit movement oriented work into traditional training environments that have been designed by accountants as little assembly line money mills that move bodies through like a factory. Environments that are equipment rich and knowledge poor. All sizzle and no steak.
Saturday, December 5th and Sunday the 6th I will offer my second FUNCTIONAL TRAINING CERTIFICATION to be held on the Treasure Coast at Workout America from 8am to 4pm on both days. Learn the secrets that earn many elite trainers six figure incomes.
We encourage early registration as our last certification was a solid sell out. For further information call Bill Hebson at 772-323-9338, or visit www.workoutamerica.com or email Bill bill@workoutamerica.com
