Immunization Outreach for Martin County Students
Contributed by: Renay Rouse on 7/21/2008

THE MARTIN COUNTY HEALTH DEPARTMENT

TO HOST A FREE

BACK TO SCHOOL IMMUNIZATION CLINIC

Students in need of immunizations to attend school are invited to take part in one of several immunization clinics sponsored by the Martin County Health Department.

In addition to standard vaccine recommendations, new laws require students entering kindergarten to receive a second dose of the Varicella (Chicken Pox) vaccine, if they have not already had the disease. Students entering seventh grade are required to receive an additional dose of Tdap (Diphtheria, Tetanus and Pertussis).

Applications and information about Florida KidCare, the state's health insurance program for uninsured children under 19, will also available at each of the clinics. For more information, log on to www.FloridaKidCare.org

The immunizations are free and no appointment is required. Parents are asked to bring their child's current immunization record, if possible. For more information, call the Martin County Health Department at (772) 221-4000 ext. 2249 or 2129.
