Adele Girmendonk, Environmental Health Specialist for the Martin County Health Department, recently completed Homeland Security Training at the Center for Domestic Preparedness (CDP) in Anniston, Alabama.
The federal government provides funding to the CDP to train emergency responders in ten disciplines including Emergency Management, Hazardous Materials and Public Health. The goal of the intensive, week long training is to help emergency responders gain the critical skills and confidence to more effectively respond to a natural disaster or terrorist attack.
Girmendonk works in the water programs division for the health department which monitors and tracks groundwater contamination and well construction and inspection
