MILITARY ACADEMY NEEDS VOLUNTEERS TO HONOR VETERANS
Victory Forge Military Academy recently put out a Call to Arms for volunteers to help with the building and setting of 2,149 Memorial Markers for the upcoming Operation: Take Time to Honor" event scheduled for Memorial day weekend at Memorial Park in Stuart Florida.
The BUILD WEEKEND as it is referred to is scheduled for May 2-4 at Memorial Park. The work weekend is needed to help finish and prepare the 2,149 markers to be erected in the park on May 23 rd Memorial Day.
According to Colonel Alan Weierman, Commander of Victory Forge Military Academy, "The cadets have been working hard to build and prepare the markers and now they need the communities help to finish it all up. As you can imagine cutting, dadoing, painting and putting pins in 2,149 markers is a huge undertaking". Colonel Weierman added, "I know that the community will come out in force in response to this Call to Arms so that we can finish this task with time to spare.
The Build Weekend will be held May 2-4 at Veterans Memorial Park on East Ocean Blvd. in Stuart. Volunteers are needed to cut, dadoe, glue, paint and pin the markers. Skilled and unskilled workers are needed as well.
Those who have tools such as chop saws, radial arm saws, drills and other hand tools are encouraged to call Michael Roberts at Special Forces Construction in Stuart at 772-692-0302 to schedule the times they want to volunteer.
Donations are still needed to purchase the lumber and supplies for the project. Anyone wishing to make a donation may send it to Victory Forge Military Academy 638 SW Biltmore Street, Port St Lucie Florida 34983 or they may call 772-879-7181 for more information.
