Living LIfe in Thanks
Contributed by: susan ropelewski on 10/25/2006

I am thankful for waking up every morning hearing my dogs barking for their
treats instead of hearing bombs and gunfire. Then, looking outside at the
clear sky and the colored yards of flowers, instead of the sand littered
with evidence of war, a smoky sky and the smell of death.
I am thankful that I can write this without someone putting me in jail.
I am thankful for having a husband and best friend, for knowing I am not
alone. Thankful for the kindness and concern from neighbors and the
funny conversations we have over who has to take their flag down because
their football or baseball team lost.
I am thankful for my butterfly garden, which has given me great satisfaction
and wonderment. Thankful I can see all the little creatures. Thankful
that I can grow so many wonderful plants in Florida.
I am so thankful for the good and bad experiences in my life, they have
sensitized me to other people's quests.
I am thankful for the freedom to read and listen to what I want and not
have to hide in the darkness of the night in fear of being arrested.
I am thankful that I can live without wanting and that I do not have to
be weak from hunger.
I am thankful that I am not a Thanksgiving Turkey" but, I am thankful
that I can celebrate Thanksgiving and that my grandson can celebrate
his first Thanksgiving !!!!!
