VINCENT ENCOMIO PhD, at FLORIDA OCENAOGRAPHIC

Vincent Encomio, PhD, has been named the new Research Specialist at Florida Oceanographic Coastal Center. He currently is heading up the Oyster Gardening program and the Oyster Reef Restoration program, as well as the ongoing Water Quality program.

Encomio came to Florida Oceanographic from Fort Myers, Florida where he worked as a research associate in the department of Marine and Environmental Sciences at Florida Gulf Coast University (FGCU). At FGCU he conducted research on the effects of freshwater releases, sedimentation and red tide on oysters and clams.

Encomio did his graduate research at the Virginia Institute of Marine Science examining the effects of disease on oysters.
