Four 3rd year medical students from Florida State University (FSU) will be spending the next year at Treasure Coast Hospices (TCH). TCH Vice President of Medical Services, Dr. Daniel Maison, FAAHPM tells us, "We are very proud and honored to be a part of this wonderful program and work with the medical students from FSU!" This program will give the students exposure of the affects on patients and families experiencing a life-threatening illness and first hand experience at how palliative (comfort) care will bring patients and their loved ones the support they need during this difficult time.
Treasure Coast Hospices is one of the few hospices in Florida to be a part of this unique teaching program for third year medical students. Our hope is through the exposure of hospice care, medical students will gain valuable education, which they can refer back to when they begin their own practice. This will enable them to feel confident and at ease with caring and referring patients with a life-limiting or life-threatening illness to hospice care.
