Stuart-The sun was shining and the weather warm on the day of the ribbon cutting for the debut of the new elevator that was installed for the Martin County School District at their historic offices located at 500 East Ocean Boulevard in Stuart. More than 80 people from the school district and Ocean Gate General Contractors gathered for this event. Ocean Gate was hired to perform the task of installing a new elevator to meet the standards of the Americans with Disabilities Act. The elevator gives the special needs community easier access to the different floors in the building.
Dr. Sara Wilcox, Superintendent of Schools gave a brief speech before the crowd stating, "We are very excited to have the elevator installed and ready for use. It looks like it has always been part of the building. Thank you Ocean Gate for your hard work!" Dr. Wilcox, along with Roger Osborne (MCSD Executive Director of Operations) and Garrett Grabowski (MCSD Construction Manager), cut the red ribbon as the crowd applauded. Guests then headed inside the building for a celebration that included ice cream and all the toppings!
"Ocean Gate is proud to have been able to serve the Martin County School District," said Mark MacDonald, President of Ocean Gate General Contractors. "This was an important project and we look forward to working with the school district in the future to meet their needs."
