Red Ribbon Week, October 24 - 31, is a time to show your support for creating a drug-free community. The Martin County Sheriff's Office has demonstrated its support for youth drug prevention and education by providing 2,000 lanyards to commemorate the initiative. The lanyards will be distributed to Sheriff's Office personnel and Martin County teachers in an initiative led by Project Northland, a Tykes and Teens Prevention Services program.
Red Ribbon week is the oldest and largest drug prevention campaign in the country. Surveys show that children whose parents warn them about the dangers of alcohol and other drugs are less likely to use them. Talk to your child about drugs today, and pin on a red ribbon to demonstrate your commitment to supporting a drug-free lifestyle.
The mission of Project Northland is to reduce underage drinking and other related risk behaviors among Martin County youth by raising community awareness and encouraging involvement with prevention activities.
