Thousands of Martin County students went back to school well-prepared this year thanks to the Ninth Annual Martin Volunteers School Supplies for Students Drive sponsored by Publix Supermarket Charities. The month-and-half-long drive netted enough school supplies to provide 6,786 students, kindergarten through 12 th grade who qualify for the free and reduced lunch program, with the necessary tools to succeed in school.
In July, six little red schoolhouses were placed at the six main collection points, Cove Road Publix and five Martin County library branches (Blake, Cummings, Hoke, Hobe Sound and Morgade), making it easy for members of the community to donate school supplies.
