Fighting breast cancer is Mission: POSSIBLE!

October 17 is date for Making Strides Against Breast Cancer

Fighting breast cancer is Mission: Possible! On Saturday, October 17, hundreds of Martin County residents will join together with the mission to create a world with less breast cancer and more birthdays at the 2009 Making Strides Against Breast Cancer. This noncompetitive 5K walk unites the entire community to celebrate breast cancer survivors, educate people about how to reduce their breast cancer risk or find the disease early, and raise funds to end the disease. The event and the dollars raised from it support the Society's efforts to save lives by helping people stay well, helping people get well, by finding cures and fighting back against breast cancer.

Accepting the mission is a fearless team of Special Agents led by event chair, Kristi Walker of the Treasure Coast Surgical Group. 2009 planning committee Special Agents are: Pat Caruso, Kerry Clark, Ann Firoda, Susan Hall, Peter Lashenka, Julia McKay, Ellie Nail, Charlie Nail, Dodi Taylor. Sponsorship has been generously provided by Genentech, Wells Fargo Advisors, LLC, Advantage Ford of Stuart, BreastCareCenter and Dr. Vopal, MartinDownsMedicalCenter and Dr. Prostko, Inn of the Dog, Guy Yudin and Foster, LLP. And of course, at the core of Making Strides are the dedicated men and women that "GO Pink" and participate as a team to raise funds and awareness in MartinCounty, in honor of survivors and loved ones lost to breast cancer.

Your mission, should you choose to accept: Join and hundreds of enthusiastic participants on Saturday, October 17 for a 5K walk in the fight against breast cancer. The event will be held at the Gazebo in Memorial Park in Downtown Stuart. Registration begins at 8 a.m. and the walk starts at 9 a.m. To register your team, walk as an individual, or as a breast cancer survivor.
