On February 11, 2008, the preceding story link was posted on YourHub announcing the kickoff for Jessie Green's Hibiscus Playground Fundraiser. A goal of $30,000 was set and Jessie's 11th birthday on May 29, 2008 was set as the target date for completion. Following Jessie's initial speaking opportunity at the Port St. Lucie Rotary Club, she proceeded to gather momentum towards her objective until the 2008 economic conditions slowed her progress to a crawl. May 29 th, 2008 came and went, and Jessie was still more than $25,000 from reaching her goal. However, she persevered, moving her target date several times until finally reaching her goal in time for her 12 th birthday on May 29 th, 2009. Thanks to several very generous donors including Judy Crompton, and Jill Ammon Vanderwood,, the playground has finally been funded and completed at the shelter property in Jensen Beach, Florida. Ms. Vanderwood donated the profits from 100 copies of her most recent award winning children's book, "What's it Like Living Green: Kids Teaching Kids by the Way They Live ". The following link is to a previous YourHub article about Ms. Vanderwood's contribution that made the successful outcome of this fundraiser possible.
