THE 2009 TREASURE COAST BROWNS BACKERS

These DAWGS are The Treasure Coast Browns Backers? They don't bite, growl or shed, but are very loveable, and easy going. A group of 75 die hard fans who gather 16 weeks a year, starting September 13th, as the Viking visit Cleveland Stadium for the start of the 2009 season, and going strong until December, cheering on the CLEVELAND BROWNS, and were FOOTBALL FANS who care about and help organizations in our community!!

The Treasure Coast Browns Backers, 75 members strong, whose roots are 99% from the state of Ohio, and the other 1% are from other states. Members come from Toledo to Youngstown to Dayton to Columbus to Marietta and then back to where football was founded, September 17th, 1920, in Canton, Ohio.

The Treasure Coast Browns Backers are sanctioned by the Cleveland Browns and are required to submit an application to start a new club and must renew their membership each spring. Clubs are required to be non-profit and must assist their community throughout the year. The Backers, the official club of the BROWNS is considered one of the largest fan clubs in the world. Currently (as of July 1st, 2009) they have 90,343 members, 275 chapters world wide, with the largest club being the Southwest Browns Backers in Phoenix, AZ, with 2229 members. Just how big are the BROWNS BACKERS you ask, well, besides the United States, clubs are located in England, San Juan, San Salvador, Cairo, London, Calgary, Australia, Japan, and yes, even in Iraq, just to name a few.

The Browns Backers are more then just fans, weekly raffles are held consisting of numerous autographed items and other Browns merchandise. The funds raised are used to support the clubs annual food and toy drives. Since 1998, the Treasure Coast Browns Backers have raised and donated more then $23, 500.00 in toys to the EXCHANGE CLUB CASTLE, non-perishable food items to SAFE SPACE OF THE TREASURE COAST and personal items to our Military men and women. The 2008 donations resulted in more then 190 toys, more then 650 food items to SAFE SPACE OF THE TREASURE COAST. The 2008 season also saw the 2nd annual "SUPPORT THE ARMED FORCES " DRIVE/RAFFLE which generated more then 420 personal items being collected and sent to our troops in Iraq along with more then 70 Christmas cards. .

The club, founded in 1998, has called PAPA BEARS Family Restaurant, Mahoney's, City Limit's, Beef O'Bradys and now DUFFY'S home. For the 2009 season were still calling Duffy's Sports Grill in the Albertsons Plaza, St. Lucie West, the home of the Treasure Coast Browns Backers, our "DAWG POUND".
