Florida Oceanographic and Florida Sportsman/Shallow Water Angler Magazines teamed up for the 6th annual Florida Oceanographic Challenge. One hundred seventy-five eager anglers participated in the fun tournament. This family-friendly event benefits the Treasure Coast Fishing Center at Florida Oceanographic Coastal Center.
The catch-and-photo tournament is known for friendly competition along with responsible fishing and conservation. All entrants 12 and under received a rod and reel from Fish Florida, funded by the Fish Florida license plate. The top prize of a Hobie Quest Kayak, donated by Hobie, was won by Richard Crose. Ten year-old Nicholas Biondo won the drawing for a
Super Screamer
tow tube, donated by Neely Marine Service. Baylor Bullock took top youth honors.
The awards celebration took place Sunday, June 29th, along with the silent auction and raffles. Stuart Rod & Reel Club presented Florida Oceanographic and the Florida Oceanographic Martin County Reef Research Team with a total of $1,000.
