FIU/Hutchinson Island Writers Conference - Oct. 22-25, 2008
Marriott Hutchinson Island Beach Resort and the Blake Library
Martin County Library System and Florida International University are co-sponsoring the
2008 FIU Writers Conference, which takes place Oct. 22-25 at the Marriott Hutchinson Island Beach Resort in Stuart, with workshops and discussions for writers at all stages of development. Evening readings, which are free and open to the public, will be held in the John F. Armstrong Wing of the Blake Library in Stuart.
This is a great opportunity to learn the writing ropes from experts!

Last Train to Paradise) is director of the FIU Creative Writing Program, ranked among the top ten creative writing programs in the country. He and keynote speaker
Dennis Lehane (
Mystic River), both former BookMania! authors, will join a stellar staff of nationally recognized writers, teachers, editors and agents speaking on the following genres and topics: memoir, fiction, non-fiction, poetry, publishing, the bestseller, revising for plot, and freelancing.
Registration is ongoing, space permitting, through the opening morning of the conference. However, anyone wishing to schedule a manuscript conference must register by Sept. 1. The cost to register is $425. Martin County Library System card holders are eligible for a $25 discount on registration fees.
