NATIONALLY RECOGNIZED AUTHORS TO READ FROM THEIR WORKS

THREE NIGHTS AT THE BLAKE LIBRARY

Martin County Library System and Florida International University, cosponsors

FIU Writers' Conference - Faculty Author Readings

Ten nationally recognized authors will read from their works 7:00-8:00 p.m. October 22-24 in the John F. Armstrong Wing of the Blake Library, 2351 SE Monterey Road, Stuart, as part of the 2009 FIU Writers' Conference, co-sponsored by the Martin County Library System and Florida International University. The nightly readings by participating conference faculty writers and poets are free and open to the public. Books will be available for sale and signing.

The lineup includes Pulitzer-Prize winning journalist and memoirist Madeleine Blais, poet and WW Norton Editor Jill Bialosky, award winning fiction writer Matthew Sharpe, Inkwell Management founding partner Kim Witherspoon, Akashic Books Editor and Publisher Johnny Temple, and best-selling novelist Debra Dean. FIU faculty include prose writers John Dufresne, Lynne Barrett, and Dan Wakefield and poets Denise Duhamel and Campbell McGrath. Conference director is novelist and historian Les Standiford, head of the FIU Creative Writing Program.
