Contributed by: Elyse Wagner on 10/30/2009

Sean McGlynn is a T-6 Texan II Pilot for the United States Air Force-and he's a Class of '87 Martin County High School Grad. Lt. Colonel McGlynn will be flying his turbo prop aircraft from Randolph Air Force Base back home to Martin County for the VNA Air Show November 14 th and 15 th.

Since venturing from Martin County after graduation to be commissioned through Florida State University ROTC, McGlynn has accrued many honors as a Lieutenant Colonel for the US Air Force. He has served in Operation Iraqi Freedom and Enduring Freedom and has flown as an instructor pilot in the C-5 Galaxy, the T-37 "Tweet", and currently in the T-6 Texan II. McGlynn has flown combat and combat support missions in both the Iraqi and Afghanistan campaigns, flown Presidential support missions, and served as a airfield safety officer in Kandahar, Afghanistan. McGlynn currently serves at the Chief of Safety Operations for the Headquarters Air Education and Training Command Safety Directorate while also teaching in the Texan II at the Pilot Instructor Training program at Randolph Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas.

"Sean earned his private pilot license at Witham Field -- what a great opportunity to return as a proud member of our military in this capacity," said Walter McGlynn, Sean's father and longtime VNA Air Show volunteer. Our community will show its support at the VNA air show for one of our own, one who has so courageously served our country. "It's an honor to return to my hometown and Witham Field, said Sean. "The VNA Air Show is known for its strong support of the military and it is a privilege to be a part of it."

A community booth will be set up during the air show to collect donations for the Forgotten Soldiers Outreach program. The program collects simple items like chapstick, sunscreen, dental floss, and bug repellant and assembles care packages to send to our deployed soldiers to continually encourage the men and women who are abroad fighting for our great nation.

About the VNA:

The VNA is a non-profit, community-based healthcare agency offering complete home health services. To aid those in need within the community who would otherwise not be able to afford care, the VNA Foundation was established. Your support of the Air Show helps further this mission.
