The people of Martin County know the Visiting Nurse Association Air Show as a tradition, a family event, and as a fun weekend of planes and pilots. These are all pieces that comprise the air show itself but this morning at the Board of County Commission meeting, a proclamation was brought forth that honored the air show for the good it does for our community and for the VNA.
The proclamation was presented to the VNA, declaring November 9 th through the 15 th Visiting Nurse Association Air Show Week in Martin County. It recognized the work of the VNA -- to provide health care to those in need in our community who would otherwise not be able to afford such care. It also showed support for the air show for raising funds to assist the VNA in continuing these good works.
The VNA Air Show gathers more than 50,000 spectators from near and far creating an economic boom in Martin County as visitors stay in our hotels, eat in our restaurants, and use other local businesses during their stay. None of this would be possible without the help of the hundreds of volunteers who work before, during, and after the show and those people also received praise and recognition through the proclamation this morning.
The Visiting Nurse Association hosts its annual Air Show November 14th and 15 th this year. From its humble beginnings in 1991, the Air Show has developed into both a community tradition and the largest family event on the Treasure Coast. Businesses, individuals and countless volunteers from the community join together to produce an event that has truly become a staple in our area.
