Volunteers Start Learning Library for Non-Profit
Contributed by: Madeleine Greenwood on 9/25/2008

We started a volunteer program at our non-profit organization HELPING PEOPLE SUCCEED, Inc. We were fortunate enough to acquire two wonderful volunteers--Jim & Marion McGuffey through the Martin Volunteers program.

Since becoming volunteers with Helping People Succeed, Jim & Marion have taken the time to create a "Learning Library" (the idea ofErin Bell--the chair of our Board of Directors) for our employees and their families. Books are donated by our staff, board members, and Jim & Marion. The Library gives our staff the opportunity to learn and grow as individuals both professionally and personally. It is our hope at Helping People Succeed that our employees will benefit in many ways from utilizing the library. The books and DVDs donated will assist our staff be the best they can be and better serve infants, youth, adults and their families in ourcommunity.

Jim and Marion McGuffey have diligently arranged the bookshelves, labeled all the books donated, created a system and preadsheet to track the books. They have also created a welcome letter to new members of the community they will be mailing to new residents to inform them of our services to help us reach more people and ultimately help more people succeed! We are lucky to have Jim and Marion.
