EAGLE SCOUT PROJECT AT FLORIDA OCEANOGRAPHIC
Contributed by: Linda Bolin-Florida Oceanographic on 9/30/2008

Florida Oceanographic Coastal Center was the beneficiary of Ford Dwyer's Eagle Scout service project.

Dwyer, of Boy Scout Troop 832, Sailfish District, Gulf Stream Council under the leadership of Joseph Yatsko, Scoutmaster, offered his service to landscape the two islands set in the 750,000-gallon saltwater Game Fish Lagoon.

This was a formidable project, involving removing the existing vegetation on the islands, and replacing it with native Florida plants that would flourish in this unique environment. The planting was completed August 16 th.

Mark Perry, Executive Director, remarked, "This Eagle Scout service project, as well as previously completed scout projects, provides a great experience and is very rewarding to both Florida Oceanographic and the participants."

Visitors to Florida Oceanographic Coastal Center will enjoy the beauty of the islands for years to come, thanks to Ford Dwyer's project.
