Peace Comes to Peck Lake
Contributed by: YourHub.com on 12/31/2005

Early in December, we brought our 14 foot cruising sailboat Paradox down to Peck Lake, which isn't really a lake but a wide spot in the Intracoastal Waterway near Hobe Sound. We had heard there would be a gathering of the Polynesian Catamaran Association: several owners of these intriguing James Wharram- designed cats in various sizes planned to get together for the weekend to visit and talk boats, a favorite pastime of all cruisers. Wanting to learn more, we managed to get ourselves invited.

Though not a Wharram design, Paradox caught the interest of the crew of Peace Four, the 46 foot voyaging home of Ann and Neville, who had just sailed in from Rhode Island (on their way to the Bahamas) to host the Polycat meet. We were warmly welcomed aboard, and spent the afternoon trading stories (Peace was built by her owners in Britain, and sailed across to the Caribbean in 2003; they've been cruising the US east coast and Bahamas since) and giving test sails on Paradox around the pretty, undeveloped lake.

You can visit http://wharram.com/books/Letters_Peace_Four.shtml to see Ann and Nev's voyage reports. Fair winds to our new friends on Peace Four, hope to see you again next fall.
