A mother cat and her 2 kittens are resting comfortably after a near-fatal ordeal left them abandoned and starving last week in a Stuart trailer park. Concerned residents noticed the frantic mother pacing outside the trailer which had been abandoned by the owner nearly a week earlier.
Management investigated and retrieved the kittens from the stifling trailer, turning over mother and babies to Hobe Sound Animal Protection League, a feline rescue and adoption group in Palm City.
Volunteers have been caring for the reunited family and hope to find loving homes for them once they are fully recovered. One volunteer noted, " The mother must have stayed close to the trailer the entire time and never left to look for food. She was as hungry as her babies. Now that she has them back she is eating non-stop."
The Mom, Tamara and her two kittens, Twilla and Spirit are available for adoption as are many other cats and kittens at Hobe Sound Animal Protection League. For more information about how to adopt a cat or make a donation, please call 772-463-7386 or go to the website: www.hsapl.org.
