PALM CITY ART ASSOCIATES, INC. GRANTS SCHOLARSHIPS
During the May 18 th meeting of the Palm City Art Associates, Inc., held at the Immanuel Lutheran Church's fellowship hall, Scholarship Chairman Cynthia Lay introduced the organization's scholarship recipients- Nicole Werder and Katie Hanrahan.The students brought samples of their art work which were enjoyed by all the members. Katie's medium is photography and Nicole's is illustration and graphic design.
Nicole will be attending the Art Institute of Ft. Lauderdale where she will study Fashion Photography. Over the past years, she has been active in the drama group, Star Struck,as well asthe photography club at school and has volunteered at the Florida Oceanographic Center. She has won many awards for her work including first place in district and state level competitions and she was the recipient of the Joe Kordick Youth Character Award in recognition of her community service.
Katie plans to attend the Ringling School of Art and Design in Sarasota, where she will study art communications, illustration, and graphic design. Katie has been in advanced placement and honors classes in almost every subject she has studied. She is a member of the marching band, symphonic orchestra, French Club, Red Cross Youth Leadership Program, and the National Jr. Honor Society. She has done volunteer work for the Soup Kitchen, the Red Cross, and the Relay For Life.
This was the last meeting of the season for the Palm City Art Associates. The next meeting will be held on September 21 at 1:00 p.m. at Immanuel Lutheran Church's fellowship hall.
