Photography Contest a Great Success

Three amateur photographers were awarded prizes on Sunday, October 29 at Tropical Ranch Botanical Gardens' First Annual Photo Contest. Twenty-nine entries were submitted and two local artists, Kelly Arnold and Robin Makowski, had the difficult chore of making a decision on the winners.
Many of the photographers and their friends plus interested plant shoppers participated in the ceremony. Barbara A. Hall was awarded First Prize, a $100 Garden Gift Certificate for her lovely photo of a Tibouchina flower; Ann Rich, a $50 Garden Gift Certificate for Second Prize with her photo of bamboo leaves that the judges felt "tipified the uniqueness of the garden" and Billye Miraglia was awarded a potted, varigated spider plant and certifice as Honorable Mention. Billye's photo was "in judges' language" a mixture of "organic and natural" materials.
