LogOn might look like an ordinary turtle, but this reptile likes to visit all the trendy places to eat. My latest lunch excursion took me to one such restaurant, the
Dragonfly Cafe
.
I noticed a certain hipness about Dragonfly from the moment I walked in the door. The music on the speakers, the old posters on the walls and even the paint scheme radiate a cool atmosphere.
Comfortable couches replace traditional booths along one wall. The small tables have an inner layer of cracked glass reminiscent of a dragonfly's wings. And for people who can't be without their laptops during lunch, the restaurant offers free wireless Internet.
Dragonfly's menu reflects its stated mission to "provide and produce high-quality organic and all-natural foods."
The cafe offers 11 different Worldwide Salads, from the familiar Caesar to more exotic salads such as Thai peanut, Santa Fe shrimp and Indian curried chicken. Customers can get a whole salad or go "half and half," ordering half a salad and half of one of the eight Marketplace Sandwiches.
Other tempting lunch choices include wraps, grilled paninis, quesadillas and burgers.
I took a few minutes with the menu before ultimately settling on the Cubano panini ($9.50). The sandwich came with roasted lean pork, ham, Swiss cheese, pickles and stone ground mustard on thick Cuban bread grilled panini-style. I chose a side salad over the homemade dragonfly chips to accompany my meal.
As soon as I laid eyes on my panini, I knew I couldn't finish the whole thing. Half of that sandwich was enough to fill me up for the rest of the day.
I packed the uneaten half in a box and took it home, knowing I could enjoy a taste of Dragonfly again at my next lunch.
