Jean's Scenes 7
Contributed by: Jean Sanders on 5/28/2006

This is another changing view. This is near ourneighborhood in Sewall's Point. We walk out to a point of land that is often rumored to be at risk of development. Luckily it is very narrow and tends to flood - particularly during those little summer zephyrs known as Frances, Jeanne and Wilma - consequently the birds and the view remain for intrepid dog walkers. So far.
We have seen herons (of all sorts), roseate spoonbills, ibises, egrets, turkey vultures, osprey, frigate birds, blue jays, mockingbirds, pelicans and cormorants here. Lucie, our ever-hopeful Lab, seems to think she can catch the birds, but they circle above her and cackle merrily as they float effortlessly. Lucie is just as happy when she finds a dead fish in the grass, discarded by a fussier osprey. She will roll on her back, wriggling and rolling in the grass, rubbing all that stinky fish smell into her fur. And then she wonders why she has to spend the rest of the day out-of-doors.
Take a walk around your neighborhood and find something that no one else has noticed. You will find everyday delights.
